Description

VIVID: Master in Visual Identity and Brand Design, offers a hands-on experience mirroring a design agency’s dynamics. It covers a wide range of creative topics, including studio management, teamwork, and entrepreneurship. Participants gain theoretical methods, creative processes, design fundamentals, and insights into modern and future technologies.

VIVID: Master in Visual Identity and Brand Design will be held in person, with the exception of some specific classes, which may be held online.

Part of the classes will be taught in English and part in Spanish.

1. Intro and Foundations

The initial weeks will be dedicated to establishing the foundations of Brand Identity Design through classes, workshops, and masterclasses. This process will ensure the standardization and elevation of students’ skills, fostering a cohesive group with a shared level of expertise.

2. Brand Identity Project

Development of a brand identity  involving a thoughtful and strategic process aimed at encapsulating the essence, values, and aspirations of the master program.

3. Art Direction for a Campaign

This project rotates around the intricate and dynamic world of creating compelling visual narratives and cohesive brand experiences across various media platforms. We partner with an existing product-based brand and develop the art direction through the use of stories, visuals and real life images.

4. Multidisciplinary Project – Barreira Design Festival 

This project emphasizes the creation of a realistic work environment, highlighting collaboration on a shared project with assigned roles. The goal is to uncover individual strengths for productive teamwork. The project involves collaboration with the school and includes tasks such as branding, event organization, planning, communication and social media management, interior design/layout, budgeting, and scheduling, among others.
The master will collaborate with the Barreira Design Festival (Semana del diseño) for a possible brand and visual partnership.

 

5. Communication for a Social or Environmental Cause

Communication and design strategy for a project focusing on sustainability, the natural environment, and social causes. The emphasis will be on understanding the theoretical and conceptual tools that can be applied with a holistic design approach, prioritizing the creation of strategic outcomes to address realistic problems.

 

6. Rebranding of a Local Physical Entity

During this phase, there will be a collaboration with a local company/brand/entity for a rebranding project. The identity development will be carried out individually, with guidance from the master’s director.

Extra. Design Sprint

Throughout the year, there will be several unexpected project commissions or briefs that must be addressed within tight deadlines. During this phase, there will be engagement with real companies, brands, and external design studios.

Master’s Final Project

Our annual Degree Show is an opportunity for our graduating students to showcase their work to industry, friends, family, potential students, and the public.

The final exam will consist of a portfolio review that can be attended by several teachers besides external collaborators or mentors.

In addition to the portfolio presentation, there will be a degree show where the students will present to the public what they’ve been able to produce during the year.

Economic options

  • 5% discount for students and ex-students of Barreira A+D official studies.

  • For working professionals, the master’s degree can be subsidised by Fundae (Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo, formerly Tripartita).
  • Barreira discounts. We offer three different scholarships, each requiring different roles, skills and benefits:
    • Tutor Scholarship (20%): you will have to develop administrative and creative tasks. This is the full tutor
    • Administrative Tutor Scholarship (15%): you will have to perform administrative tasks
    • Creative Tutor Scholarship (5%): you will have to develop creative tasks

 

Customised financing

For all our master’s degrees we have a BBVA Study Loan agreement, with which you can finance your studies at Barreira A+D with a system whereby students decide when to repay the amount borrowed. As in the Anglo-Saxon model, you will only pay when you finish your studies, when you find a job, or when you choose, from 30€ per month! We manage your tailor-made financing.

Subsidised training

This master’s degree, like the rest of the Barreira A+D master’s degrees, is subsidised. This means that you can take it thanks to the subsidised credits available to companies.

Barreira A+D is not only a training entity (a centre that offers subsidised training), but also an organising entity. This means that we also take care of preparing the documentation required to take a subsidised course, which means that Barreira A+D will make the whole process very easy for you.

What do I have to do to be admitted?

Step 1: Prepare CV/Portfolio and Cover Letter

CV maximum 2 pages, cover letter maximum 1 page.

*If you don’t have experience don’t worry, there are many other factors that influence the decision to admit a candidate.

Step 2: Interview with the master’s management

It’s mandatory to be admitted to the visual identity and brand design master’s degree (can be done by phone or videocall).

Step 3: Reserve your place

In case you want to secure your place in the master, we recommend you to make a reservation payment of 300€. In case of not being admitted, the full amount of the reservation will be refunded. You can make the reservation by bank transfer or online payment.

Step 4: Admission

Within a maximum of 5 days we will let you know if you have been admitted to the master.

Step 5: Follow-up

Our admissions team will contact you on a regular basis to carry out the next steps concerning the final enrollment in the master’s program.

What requirements must I meet to access the master's degree?

  • University degree in any creative discipline related to Graphic Design
  • Good level of English comprehension and communication
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite at either a professional or intermediate level
  • A design portfolio that shows a background and experience in Graphic Design
  • Professional CV with previous education/work experience, skills, languages, etc.
